From an AMX5100, how do I scan computers attached to the AMX5000?
- To begin scanning:
1. Bring up OSCAR on the AMX5100 (default =CTRL-CTRL).
2. Click the Target tab and select the Scan radio button.
3. Select the computers to be included in the scan by holding down the Shift key and using the arrow keys or mouse.
4. Click Start.
All of the selected computers will continue to be displayed in a slide show mode until keyboard or mouse activity is sensed.
To set the length in seconds for each computer to be displayed:
1. In OSCAR, click the Users tab and change the Local Scan Dwell time to a value between 3 - 99 seconds.
2. Click Apply.
To pause the scan mode on a viewed computer, press any key or move the mouse. The scan will stop at the selected computer. When there is no activity for a two second period, scanning will resume.
To stop scanning:
1. Bring up OSCAR on the AMX5100 (default =CTRL-CTRL).
2. Click the Target tab, then select Stop.

How do I connect and configure the AMX5000?
- 1. Using the null modem cable that shipped with the AMX5000, connect a terminal or PC running terminal emulation software (such as HyperTerminal) to the terminal port on the front panel. The terminal should be configured to 9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, and no flow control.
2. When the switch is powered on, the Power indicator on the front of the unit will blink for approximately 30 seconds while performing a self-test. Approximately 10 seconds after it stops blinking, press thekey to access the main menu.
3. From the Main Menu, select Option 1: Network Configuration.
4. From the Network Configuration, select Option 1: IP Address. Configure the IP Address.
5. Select options 2 and 3 to set your netmask and default gateway respectively.
6. Once these settings are input, enter a 0 to return to the main menu.
Note: The system does not need to be rebooted for settings to take affect.

- Up to 128 user profiles can be stored in the AMX5000 database at any given time.

How do I connect a Paragon system to an AMX system?
- This setup will use a two-menu system, which means you will have to use the OSCAR menu of the AMX5100 and the On Screen Display of the Paragon user station.
When the units are connected as shown below, the AMIQ Unique ID will appear on OSCAR. Select the Unique AMIQ ID and the logon screen of the Paragon User station should appear. Once logged in, use Scroll-Lock Scroll-Lock to bring up the Paragon OSD and switch to a computer.
Connect units as follows:
AMX5100 --> AMX5000 --> AMIQ --> Paragon User station --> Paragon Matrix --> PC x XX

What is the maximum number of connections to a shared session on the AMX5000?
- There is no defined limit to the number of users who can share a single server connection. Every system user can share a single connection, if desired.

Is it possible to name the servers in an AMX5000 system, instead of using the UID numbers?
- Yes, you may reference servers by any name you choose. Follow the steps listed below:
1) Press the hotkey sequence to launch OSCAR
2) Click on the Admin tab
3) Click on the Servers Admin button
4) A list of available servers will appear. Select the server UID or name you wish to alter and click Edit server
5) Enter the new name for the server and click the Apply button
