Mirroring Content: HDMI splitters mirror (duplicate) content; they cannot extend a desktop to show different content on each display.

Same video settings and equipment levels are recommended for both screens not to cause issues.
Basic cables will work at the lowest connected working equipment level for both outputs.



GENERAL INFORMATION:

Active vs. Passive Splitters: Active splitters are recommended as they are powered, allowing them to amplify the digital signal and prevent signal degradation over longer distances. Passive splitters are unpowered and are generally limited to short distances.

Not always applicable with basic non powered splitters - video cards effects -
EDID and Resolution Management: Splitters use EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) to communicate with the source. If connecting a 4K display and a 1080p display, the splitter will often lower the resolution to 1080p for both to maintain compatibility.
